Black Barbie Faces

1980 was the official year for the African American Barbie Release

The faces of the African American Barbie dolls has gone through multiple changes. The same facial features were premoniet for most of the molds and can be found in an array of colors just like the African American women of the world. If you look closely at each doll you can see there aren't many differences. The Black Barbie has had variations but, until recent years with Black Barbie designers like Byron Lars, Stacey McBride-Irby that the "Black Barbie" started to take on more ethic features. The Year of 1980 really kicked the reality door open for Mattel. There were many faces of Barbie combined to create each doll. Often Mattel use nothing more than color change to create ethnic dolls.
